A T. Rex Named Sue

Today was our last “Fun Friday” with Grandma for this summer. :(

Anna has been waiting to go to the Space and Rocket Center all summer to see the dinosaur exhibit they have right now called “ A T. Rex named Sue”. We all know how much she loves dinosaurs!

It was another thing on her “Summer To-Do list”.

Ma-Maw Maxine, Aunt Kelly, and (Lil) Joe came to town to go with us and spend the day!

We saw an Imax movie about dinosaurs that lived in the sea. It was awesome!

Anna was amazed. She was a little disappointed that it wasn’t the real dinosaur bones, but I explained to her that it was an exact replica. That every detail was the same. We really enjoyed learning the story of how she was discovered, and that she was 28 when she died. We could see where she had fractured bones during her life. We learned that she did most of her growing between the age of 14 and 16, and that she was full grown at 19 years old. We really enjoyed it. We told Anna that someday we will take her to the Smithsonian museum of natural history in Washington DC to see real dinosaur bones, and she can’t wait!

It was a wonderful, educational day! And we were able to cross another To-do off of our list!

After we left, Everybody came to our house for an afternoon swim, and some pizza! We even had Joe spend the night, which is the first time he has ever spent the night away from home! We were very proud of him! They had a pretty exhausting day, so they didn’t stay up too late!

Thanks Ma-Maw Maxine, Grandma, Aunt Kelly, and Joe for such a perfect end to our summer vacation!

School starts on Monday!
